Reservation

What is reservation?

A reservation is budget held against a spend limit for a job that has been authorised but not yet completed. It prevents concurrent jobs from collectively exceeding a limit that each would satisfy alone.

When the job finishes, the reservation is settled against actual usage and any unused portion is released. When a job is abandoned, the reservation expires after a fixed window rather than being held indefinitely.

Available budget is therefore the limit minus settled spend minus open reservations — not simply the limit minus what has been billed.
