Model card

What is model card?

A model card documents what a model is: its base, its training data, its intended use, its evaluation results and its known limitations. It is the artefact that lets someone else decide whether the model is suitable for their purpose.

A generated card covering the mechanical facts — base model, dataset reference, hyperparameters, final metrics, hardware, wall time — removes most of the effort and is more accurate than one written from memory weeks later.

The parts that need a human are intended use and limitations, because those are judgements about context rather than facts about the run.
