Model weights
What is model weights?
Model weights are the learned parameters that constitute a trained model. Whether you can download them is the single clearest test of whether a fine-tune belongs to you or to the platform that produced it.
A platform that trains a model but will not export it has produced an asset you rent. It cannot be run elsewhere, audited independently, or kept if the relationship ends.
For adapter-based fine-tunes the exported artefact is small — megabytes — but it is only usable against the exact base model version it was trained on, so recording that pairing is part of holding the asset.
